Weeks of planning and preparation was all brought together in a stunning ensemble of Christmas spirited fun, laughter and joy. Food, wine, desserts, presents, people: action! Though some of brethren were couldn’t attend this year, it still buzzed with people and it was no less festive than the previous year.
W. Bro Copham had the following speech written:
“Thank you for supporting Lodge Protea’s Christmas in July charity function. Since moving our Lodge from Roodepoort to the Krugersdorp Masonic Centre, you have made us feel very welcome and I feel that it is important to support the community and that’s why I chose Randfontein and Westonarea SPCA as my charity, because the community, and especially the animals are important to us at Lodge Protea.
W. Bro Kotze and I visited the SPCA recently to donate dog and cat food which we were able to do because of your very generous donations last year. They were so grateful for the food we provided and our donation will feed the dogs and cats for a period of 3 months. The SPCA gets no funding from the government and rely solely on donations and as the economy worsens, so too, donations diminish so it’s even more important to dig deep today and support this worthy cause.
On behalf of the SPCA I want to say a very big ‘thank you’ to each and every one of you who helped make this possible. We can only hope that you will continue to support us in our future events and we look forward to seeing you at the next Christmas in July in 2018.”
